Late on Saturday evening, President Trump dropped his plan to hold the Group of Seven summit conference at his golf resort in Doral, Florida next year. He announced the plan’s cancellation with a tweet that blamed “both Media & Democrat Crazed and Irrational Hostility.”
In fact, the scheme to hold the international summit at a hotel he owns had provoked outrage among Republicans as well as Democrats in Congress, while drawing critical commentary in publications across the political spectrum.
Trump also said that the search fo a new site will begin immediately and that other possible choices may include Camp David.
….Therefore, based on both Media & Democrat Crazed and Irrational Hostility, we will no longer consider Trump National Doral, Miami, as the Host Site for the G-7 in 2020. We will begin the search for another site, including the possibility of Camp David, immediately. Thank you!
